System Requirements for EMS-95

EMS-95 and its data free and publicly available from Ladco(some minimal tape/media fees may be charged).  The EMS-95 system is currently able to run on UNIX workstations using the SAS system. The System requirements vary based upon the size(number of icell/jcell combinations). The minimum requirements are:

Unix workstation with:

SAS license including SAS GRAPH and SAS FSP. SAS INSIGHT is recommended for visiualization.

512 Mbytes RAM.

30Gbytes SCSI disk storage.

8mm Exabyte tape drive or DLT drive

ARC/INFO License or some way to develop spatial surrogates.

Fortran(to compile MOBILE5b once)

150 Mhertz RISC CPU(This is not the same as a 150Mhertz Intel CPU).

NOTES: Ladco currently uses SUN workstations running SOLARIS 2.7. If DEC workstations are selected there are some data conversions required for use but conversions should only take several hours. The most expensive component of this process is the SAS license. SAS Institute charges fees on it's licence for unix workstations as if there are many users and so the cost is $35,000 dollars for the license.

The recommended system requirements for running the OTAG Domain would be and additional 20Gbytes of disk storrage and a 150 Mhertz RISC processor. OTAG has 32,000 surface cells X 40 days. There is a linear relationship between the number of cells times the number of days and the amount of disk space required. So for a domain with 48,000 surface cells and 50 days We would recommend a total of 100gbytes of disk storage and a 300Mhertz RISC processor.

PC EMS-95

Over the next year Ladco hopes to release a PC version of EMS-95. We forsee the need of a 450Mhertz Intel processor with 256Mbytes of RAM and equivalent ultra-scsi disk drives as the unix systems. The most important advantage of a PC version would be the cost of the SAS license which would be aproximately $5000 dollars. If you are seriously interested in PC EMS-95 contact Ladco for a more current update on it's availability. As Ladco percives more demand for the software the higher the priority Ladco will give to the conversion,.
