Call Notes

'June Action Items'

  • Amy: circulate training charter example from WNDR; status: see attached
  • Chris: post training delivery methods document to EPA Sharepoint for group editing; status: pending
  • Zac and Jeff: recruitment; status: in progress; should we go to individual NACAA committees for subject matter experts; OAQPS made a presentation to regional air program managers, Chris is working on how to engage regions; there is no sub-lead for training at the regions, EPA is collecting training points of contact for each region; efforts underway on NSR training that engage the regions, and may be used a model for how to engage regions; Chris to get a list of contacts for a coordinated recruitment
  • Zac: compile results/summaries from new evaluation pilots for review on next WG call; status: in progress, discuss on July call

'Update from EPA on internal work assignment and delivery methods doc'

  • expecting something later this month, needs EPA review first; will do a full evaluation by August; goal is to have a set of formats evaluated against criteria to form the basis of a user-friendly tool for helping to select for a particular training steer towards a delivery format; may be a webinar to accompany the document from the contractor, need to wait and see if a presentation is needed by the contractor

'Review WIDNR training project charter'

  • Scope: get information to be helpful for setting people up for a successful training: when, to whom, objectives, by whom, what are objectives, tracking/certification, action plan for leading up to and delivering training;
  • Provides details for the training project
  • Coordinator walks through the document with the training sponsor inside the agency; takes an hour if they haven't used this charter before, 30 min if familiar; can take longer if it's a longer course
  • Information gathering to help the training coordinator develop and deploy the training
  • Is the charter used to identify what trainings are needing to be offered? Is used when a need to develop new training (or refresh existing training) arises; could be used to edit courses as well; one of the areas most useful is the training tools used section - helps coordinator guide which delivery tool will be most useful; timeline has bearing because some delivery methods take more time to develop;
  • Use this charter in the curriculum WG as the first step for evaluating curriculum/course needs
  • Seeking procedure on needs assessment, and prioritizing courses within the agency; right now it's very top down (from the directors or branch chiefs)
  • Includes a section on delivery methods
  • Can this be converted to a manifest post-course

'Update on Amy’s presentation for the JTC'

  • Want to use the training delivery methods document to use for developing the slides
  • Action: Zac to put this document on the next call, need to work through comments
