Course Overview: This course provides a foundational understanding of the theory and practical application of air pollution control devices used to reduce emissions from stationary sources. Participants will learn how various control technologies function, where they are applied, and how to evaluate their effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
About the Course: Air pollution control devices play a critical role in reducing emissions and protecting public health and the environment. BASC107 provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the theory, operation, application, and performance evaluation of common air pollution control technologies used in industrial and commercial settings.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the fundamental principles of air pollution control and emission reduction.Identify major categories of air pollution control devices and their applications.Describe the operating theory of particulate matter control technologies, including:
- Cyclones
- Fabric filters (baghouses)
- Electrostatic precipitators (ESPs)
- Describe the operating theory of gaseous pollutant control technologies, including:
- Scrubbers
- Thermal oxidizers
- Catalytic oxidizers
- Adsorption systems
- Evaluate factors affecting control device efficiency and performance. Interpret operating parameters and performance indicators used to assess control device effectiveness. Recognize common operational issues, maintenance concerns, and troubleshooting strategies. Understand the relationship between air pollution control equipment and regulatory compliance requirements. Apply theoretical concepts to real-world inspection and compliance scenarios.
Course Delivery: This is a virtual, instructor-led training.
How to Register: See the U.S. EPA LMS Frequently Asked Questions for how to create an account, register for a course, and other common functions.
